Two shot, one dead at Superior bar on New Year’s Day

Two people were shot at the Third Base Bar in Superior, Wis. on New Year’s Day. One man died while the other, who was shot in the chest, was taken to a hospital in Duluth.

The Duluth News Tribune:

The Superior Police Department responded to a report of gunshots in the alley behind the Third Base Bar, 1218 Tower Ave., at 7:40 a.m. Sunday, Assistant Chief Matthew Markon said in a statement. Upon arrival, officers found one man dead in the alley with an apparent gunshot wound and an injured man inside the bar with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Markon did not comment on whether police had a suspect in custody, but said the incident was not a random event, and said, “the suspect and victims had a connection that is being investigated.”
